Who we are
About us
The Gender-Based Violence Digital Rights and Research Network (GBV-DRRN) is a non-profit, social-welfare and research organization registered under Section 42 of the Companies Act, 2017 (Government of Pakistan). We are dedicated to preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV) in both physical and digital spaces, with a strong focus on empowering women, girls, and marginalized communities to reclaim their rights, dignity, and digital safety. Founded by a group of researchers, educators, and healthcare professionals, GBV-DRRN emerged from the growing need to address the rising threat of online violence, including cyber-harassment, stalking, blackmail, image-based abuse, impersonation, hate speech, and gendered disinformation. Our mission is to transform digital environments into safe, inclusive, and respectful spaces where equality and justice thrive.
Our Vision
To build a digitally safe and gender-equal Pakistan where every individual, especially women and girls can participate, express, and connect without fear or violence.
Our Mission
To combat gender-based violence through research, advocacy, education, and survivor support, while strengthening national and global collaboration for the protection of digital rights.
How we work
Guided by the 1994 Programme of Action from the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), UNFPA works in partnership with governments, civil society, academia and the private sector to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights.
We share data and analysis to help countries measure progress. We bring in resources and technical expertise where they are most needed. We advocate for rights and choices in government discussions and public debates. We also build national capacity through training and monitoring, and we join regional and international meetings to strengthen knowledge and commitment.
UNFPA also manages pooled funding mechanisms — including Joint Programmes and Multi-Donor Trust Funds — at global, regional and country levels, ensuring resources are channelled where they are needed most.
