About the Campaign
The Gender-Based Violence Digital Rights and Research Network (GBV-DRRN) leads awareness and advocacy initiatives to prevent and respond to gender-based violence (GBV) in both physical and digital environments. Our campaign works across schools, universities, and community settings to promote safe, inclusive, and rights-based spaces for all. We recognize that GBV is deeply rooted in social norms, power imbalances, and digital inequalities. Through education, research, and community engagement, we aim to challenge silence, dismantle harmful norms, and promote dignity, safety, and justice.
Why This Campaign Matters
Gender-based violence, whether offline or onlineāis a violation of fundamental human rights and a major public health and social justice concern. The rise of digital technologies has intensified new forms of abuse such as: Online harassment and cyberstalking, Image-based abuse and non-consensual sharing, Digital surveillance and coercive control. At the same time, many survivors lack access to awareness, legal protection, and psychosocial support, especially in under-resourced and conservative communities. This campaign addresses these gaps through education, dialogue, and advocacy.
Working across Pakistan, GBV-DRRN empowers communities to prevent gender-based violence and protect digital and human rights
- We engage schools, universities, and community institutions through awareness sessions, trainings, and dialogue to promote gender equality and respectful relationships.
- We collaborate with policymakers, civil society, and academic institutions to strengthen laws, policies, and institutional responses to gender-based violence.
- We empower students, youth, and communities to prevent and respond to violence.
- We raise awareness on all forms of gender-based violence, including technology-facilitated abuse.
- We utilize social media campaigns, webinars, online resources, and awareness toolkits for the prevention of GBV.
